Jeff Bridges: 2010 Recipient of the Best Actor Award

 
Jeff Bridges is a very successful actor, musician, producer and composer.  In 2010,
Jeff Bridges won the Academy Award for Actor in a Leading Role at the 82nd Academy Awards for his role in the film Crazy Heart. Recently he has also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in the same film. 
 
Jeff Bridges, the son of Dorothy Bridges and actor Lloyd Bridges, was born and raised in Los Angeles.  He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the late 1960s and was a reservist in the early 1970s. He met  Susan Geston  on a movie shoot and in 1977, they were married.
 
Jeff has had a successful career in the film industry.  As a teenager, he and his brother Beau appeared in their father's CBS series, The Lloyd Bridges ShowHis first major role was in The Last Picture Show, a 1971 movie for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 1974, Bridges was again nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.  In 1984 he was nominated for Best Actor for playing the alien in Starman. Other movies for which he received high recognition are:  Against All Odds, Jagged Edge and Fearless, which critics believed was his masterpiece.
 
In the Coen Brothers' film, The Big Lebowski, Bridges played the role of "The Dude". In 2000, he received his fourth Academy Award nomination for his role in The ContenderIn 2005 he starred in Tideland; in 2008 he played the role of Obadiah Stane in Iron ManJeff Bridges has had major roles in many other movies. He is so deserving of winning the 2010 Academy Award for an Actor in a Leading Role in the film Crazy Heart.
 
Jeff Bridges has many interests in addition to his roles in movies.  Heis a photographer and has published photographs online and in the 2003 Pictures: Photographs by Jeff Bridges. Bridges is a cartoonist with some of his word appearing in films.  He is remembered for his narration in the documentary Lost in La Mancha (2002).  He also narrated the documentaries Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West (2002, IMAX), Raising the Mammoth (2002, TV), The Heroes of Rock and Roll (1979, TV).
 
Bridges has done TV commercial voice-over work and ad campaigns for Hyundai and Duracell. In 2010, he and more than 80 musicians  recorded the charity single remake of We Are The World.
