Joyce Meyer: Television Evangelist, Charismatic Christian Speaker & Author

Joyce Meyer, former pastor, Charismatic Christian author and speaker, Bible teacher, television evangelist and founder of Joyce Meyer Ministries has had successful experiences as well as numerous challenges in her ministry work. The website www.igobelieve.com  notes that her radio programs have been heard in 200 countries and translated into 25 languages.

In 1980, Joyce began leading a Bible class at a local cafeteria and became active in a newly formed Charismatic church,  Life Christian Center. Shortly after Meyers became one of the church's associate pastors and began preaching and teaching weekly women's Bible studies called, "Life in the Word".

Her first media ministry began with a daily 15-minute radio broadcast on a radio station in St.Louis, MO.  Joyce shares her views on how to deal with everyday life situations and her own shortcomings. She speaks "candidly and with a sense of humor".

In 1985, Joyce resigned as associate pastor and began her own ministry called "Life in the Word".  With the encouragement of her husband, Dave, the Meyers began a television ministry in 1993 called "Enjoying Everyday Life".  In 2000, Joyce opened a social service outreach and ministry in an area of St. Louis called "St. Louis Dream Center".

Joyce Meyer's theological education has been questioned. Her ministry office states that she earned her doctorate degree from Life Christian University in Tampa, Florida, however the university is not  an accredited agency known to the U.S. Dept. of Education. She does have an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma which is an accredited institution.

Joyce Meyer and her husband have become very wealthy with their many endeavors. Joyce owns several homes, travels in a private jet and has been criticized for her excessive lifestyle.

In 1904, Meyer made plans to reduce her salary and to personally use the income from her books sales.  She retains royalties from books she sells at retail stores such as Wal-Mart, Amazon.com and Christian bookstores. She donates to her ministry the sales from books sold at conferences, catalogs, website and her television program.

The website www.igobelieve.com has information on Joyce Meyer's early life, her ministry, her marriage to Dave,  the honorable recognition by Time magazine and information on billions of her books that have been sold around the world. The website states that Joyce "has been a blessing to millions of poeple".
