NEEDED: Sexual Abuse Education for Parents

Our children receive an amount of information about sexual abuse protection in their schools. Statistics show that in more than 60% of sexual abuse cases both the child and the child's family knew and trusted the abuser! Nearly 30 to 40% of abused children are abused by family members or older, larger children.

What can parents do about this growing problem?  Here are just a few suggestions for parents.
*Talk to other parents about child sexual abuse.
*Talk openly with your children about what abuse it.
*Teach your children that it is "against the rules" for
anyone to act in a sexual way with them.
*Teach them what parts of their bodies others should not
       touch.
*Teach children not to give our email addresses, home
addresses, or phone numbers while using the internet.

Parents, schools and other community services working together and coordinating their resources can be make a significant difference in protecting all children from sexual abuse.
