Summer with the Grandchildren

It is summer time and grandparents want to spend time with their grandchildren. During this time it is important for grandparents and grandchildren to bond while spending quality time together. There are a lot of things that can be done together. Some are expensive and others can be done for free.

On the expensive side are trips that are designed just for grandparents and grandchildren. Disney even has a cruise that can be taken. On the cruise there are activities for grandparents and grandchildren; some are just for the children and some are just for adults.

If money is a problem there are things that can be done at home. Cooking is not only spending time together but is teaching the child at the same time. Building things such as bird feeders teach the child and help you bond with them at the same time.

It is also important for the grandparent to sit and talk with the grandchild. Take the child on a picnic and while their tell the child family stories. Give the child information on family history.

If you have several grandchildren and they live too far off have them all come to your house for a summer grandparents camp. You can do craft projects, cook out, and tell campfire stories.

Start a scrapbook and add to it each summer. When the children get old enough, you can have them work on it. Then when they are older they will have something to show their grandchildren.

Grandchildren are to be enjoyed. As parents we are too busy raising our children to really enjoy them. Grandchildren are our gifts for having raised our children.
