The Grandchildren are Coming to Town

Sometimes jobs take our children to far away places, making visits from grandchildren very limited.  As grandparents, it's important to keep your memories alive with the grandchildren so when the reunion between grandchildren and grandparents arrives, it's a memorable one and one that the children look forward too.  It might take some creative grandparenting to keep this special bond alive.

While the grandchildren live far away, grandparents can do lots of special things like send a dozen of their favorite cookies in a tin.  Grandparents can send special pictures of them together to remind the grandchildren of their grandparents.  It doesn't necessarily take a lot of money just some creative genius and taking the time to make the child feel special.  If you aren't sure on activities to do with or for your grandchildren, there are lot's of resources on the internet.  One such resource you can subscribe to is www.grandparents.com.

When grandchildren visit, it's best to have a schedule of what you want to do and accomplish.  This will make the visit smoother and will help in creating the memories for your grandchild to savor for a lifetime.  Although you create a schedule, remember to be flexible also.  If everyone is having a great time catching lightening bugs or at the zoo don't force yourself to hit the next journey.  If you have several grandchildren, it might be wise to schedule visits with each child separately so you can enjoy the time and build the bond stronger with each child.  Remember, that while the young ones are visiting, it is important to take care of your own health.  Pace yourself and get plenty of rest so that you remain healthy and in good temperament for the entire visit.
